The Founder
Clean Tea was founded in 2013 by Jordana , beginning with only 3 teas and started as a market stall in Byron Bay.
A mother of 3 beautiful children, I found myself needing to return to the workforce but no desire to return to a job that didn’t fulfil me.
I wanted to start a business that combined my love for tea and my journey to improve my health. Reaching out to my mum who was a naturopath and medical herbalist we created our first 3 beautiful organic tea blends, Clean Tea, Detox Tea and Dream Tea. There is something special about a hand blended, boutique tea. There’s love that goes into every cup.
I launched our first market stall in Byron Bay markets on 1st December 2013. This was the same morning my husband proposed to me at Byron lighthouse, it was one of the best days of my life.
So 4 years later it seemed poignant to open our first retail store in the Byron Bay Arts and Industrial on the same day, December 1st.
Handcrafting and creating over 50 blends has brought me the greatest joy. Not to mention getting to work with my mum every day.
We still hand blend every blend, hand label and package every product. There is a lot of love and time that goes into creating our product.
I love tea and I love what I do. Clean Tea has introduced me to so many amazing people and we have had so much fun creating this brand over the last 4 years. I am grateful every day to be able to share my passion with you.
Thank you to all our customers for their ongoing support of our brand. We hope you find joy in every cup.
Our Naturopath
Our range of teas were designed with Amanda Hunter ND, who has 20 years experience as a Naturopath and Medical Herbalist, and also Jordana’s mother.
After my first visit to a naturopath about 25 years ago, I knew this was something I had to know more about.
After three years full time study and winning the Best Overall Naturopath Award, I began to practice in the profession I still love and believe in with a passion.
Over the next twenty years, I worked hard to develop a high level of knowledge in the naturopathic field and to maintain the highest standard of care.
I have had my own practice during that time, but have also been privileged to work alongside other experienced practitioners, including doctors.
Much of my focus and interest has been on the health of the digestive tract (gut) – the old saying “your health begins in the gut” is so true.
Your gut influences every aspect of your health and when everything in that area is balanced and healthy, you feel so good and over time, notice other health problems start to drop away.
Stress and stress management, depression and anxiety, hormonal imbalances, immune system problems, pain management and cardiovascular problems are other areas in which I have worked extensively.
I believe being a good Naturopath is also about being a good teacher. Teaching a client how to improve their health, energy and sense of well being is empowering for that client. I love that!
To hear from a client “thank you – this has changed my life” – is a reward in itself.”
A “mum based” business
from Jordana, Founder and CEO
Starting the business on my “kitchen bench” as a stay at home mum, having a work life balance was always important to me. I love that even as the business has grown, I finish work everyday by 3:00pm to pick my kids up from school. I can be present for their sports carnivals, dance classes and Mothers Day morning teas and sick days. More importantly I also employ 8 other mums who can also do the same thing. I love that it is our work culture means our day finishes at 3:00pm. We all work hard to get a full days work finished in a shorter time, so that we can still be present for our children. Being an entrepreneur as well as a parent shows my children the resilience, hard work and dedication it takes to run a business but mostly I am grateful that I can show my children how you can LOVE your job and be fulfilled and passionate everyday about what you do.
But don’t be concerned, most of us leave the factory at 3:00pm to be with our families, but our customer service staff always here to help, day and night. Our customer service team is amazing, but I still find the time to reply to most emails, facebook and instagram messages myself, I appreciate every customer and how much they mean to our brand.
